After not much quality sleep in the Mojave Desert, we were off to Las Vegas. The drive wasn’t too long, and our Avis rental drop off was a short walk to our hotel, Treasure Island Resort. We stayed here for two nights (Sunday and Monday), which cost $160 NZD per night (including resort fees). On our first day we walked around the strip and tried White Castle from Harold and Kumar (which is awful, we don’t recommend trying it!) and then we attempted to gamble but we were both not drunk enough to spend our hard earned money! We tried a few slot machines at the Parisian, but only spent $2 USD/$3 NZD! We also saw the Bellagio fountains at night, which was in time to Bruno Mars. This is a must see and it’s free!
On our second day, we slept in and walked around some more casinos and shops before heading back to the hotel to get ready for our Cirque du Soleil show, Mystère. This was AMAZING!!! It was funny, the acrobatics were astounding and the strength of the athletes was impressive! We would highly recommend this show (which was at Treasure Island Resort). Tickets cost us $66 USD/$95 NZD each. We then did a bit more gambling, this time spending $7 USD/$10 NZD! Such high rollers…
Note: the air in the Casinos is not great. Smoking is allowed throughout and what air they pump in to cover the smells made us feel sick! Max’s throat swelled up and we both felt dizzy (with very little alcohol)!
The next day we went to pick up our Avis rental car, and ended up with a Jeep Patriot! Our dreams have come true! We drove to Henderson (a short drive from Vegas) and stayed at an Airbnb for 2 nights, which cost $65 NZD per night. We didn’t do too much here as I ended up having to go to a doctor for an infection which wasn’t improving but we still got to do a bit of driving around the area and cook delicious, healthy food (much needed after Vegas).
